Because once you recognize that culture is shaping how you show up at work, the next question becomes:<strong> at what cost?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the most important threads in this conversation is ambition. For many Caribbean women, ambition isn\u2019t optional, it\u2019s cultural. We are raised in environments where hard work, discipline, and striving are not just encouraged, they are expected. Being called \u201clazy\u201d or \u201cidle\u201d carries weight. So we push. We achieve. We endure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But what happens when that same cultural wiring leads to burnout?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Or even more subtly \u2014 what happens when it leads to boreout &#8211;  being under-stimulated, under-utilized, yet still operating at a high level?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And then there\u2019s a layer we don\u2019t talk about enough:&nbsp;how biological changes, like perimenopause, intersect with our professional lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In this episode, we explore how physical and emotional shifts \u2014 brain fog, fatigue, changes in focus can show up at the same time we\u2019re expected to perform at our peak professionally. And because we\u2019ve been conditioned to push through, we often don\u2019t stop to ask what\u2019s really happening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is where recalibration comes in. Not quitting. Not shrinking. But redefining what ambition looks like at different stages of life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:23px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carryonfriends.com\/lens-5-of-the-caribbean-diaspora-experience-model-cdem-culture-influences-how-we-show-up-at-work\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Lens 5 of the Caribbean Diaspora Experience Model (CDEM) \u2013 Culture Influences How We Show Up at Work\">Lens 5 of CDEM<\/a> teaches us, how we show up at work is not just about skill or opportunity. It\u2019s about:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>what we\u2019ve been taught about effort<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>how we define success<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>how we regulate ourselves under pressure<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>and whether we give ourselves permission to evolve<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If Part 1 was about awareness, Part 2 is about adjustment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And maybe the biggest takeaway is this, we don\u2019t have to abandon our ambition.
